WhooRU to Replace MyNetID on June 19

Managing your online presence at Rice is about to get easier.

On June 19, OIT will launch WhooRU.rice.edu to replace the current MyNetID.rice.edu online account management system.

Managing Your NetID Account

New to Rice? Claim your NetID

Before you can use your NetID and access any services, you must claim and activate your account using the Identity Claim Portal. The Identity Claim process will set up your account and assign your NetID. Please take note of your NetID and store it in a safe place for future reference.

Managing Profile and Contact Information

Change Your NetID Password

NOTE: You must have previously activated your NetID to change your password.

If you know your NetID password, you can change it anytime by visiting the WhooRU.rice.edu web page. Log in and select the My Passwords option from the home screen.

Recover A Forgotten NetID Password

If you don’t remember your existing password, you can use the recovery feature to reset it by visiting WhooRU.rice.edu and selecting the Forgot Password link.

Updating Contact Information

You can update your contact information anytime in the WhooRU.rice.edu. Profile and contact information, including your phone or external email, should be kept current for better account management. This is key for account recovery should you need it.

Managing Rice Online Directory Information

Changing your Published (Primary) Email Address

Your published (primary) email address is one public entry in the Rice online directory. Log in to WhooRU.rice.edu to change your published email address in the Rice directory.*

*For students, to opt out of the Rice online directory, follow these instructions from the Office of the Registrar.

Creating An Alternate (Alias) Email Address

By default, a netid@rice.edu email address will be created and assigned to you when your NetID is initially created. Each individual can create up to three alternate or vanity email aliases that will all send to your one email mailbox. Log in to WhooRU.rice.edu and select My Aliases from the options on the home screen.

** NOTE** When creating and choosing a new alias, please be mindful. A primary alias cannot be deleted once created.

FAQ

I have a new employee starting on Jun 20, 2025, which system will they use?

New employees and students will receive an email from HR or the Office of the Registrar’s with account activation information. MyNetID.rice.edu will be redirected automatically to WhooRU.rice.edu at the appropriate time, so no need to worry about their access.
